That is why, if you come to Sabaudia mainly for a beach holiday, you should look for a hotel or apartments near the sea shore.

What to see in Sabaudia

The main attraction of Sabaudia is its natural landscapes. Sabaudia resort has not only a unique location between the lake and the sea, but is also surrounded by the Circeo National Park with its extraordinary flora and fauna.

The Circeo National Park has a very diverse nature. Here you can find selva forests, the Monte Circeo mountains, coastal dunes, 4 salt lakes with unique species of birds living on them, as well as the Pontine marshes and the island of Zanonne. The Sabaudia resort is partially located on one of the salt lakes of the park, namely Lake Paola. Swimming in the lake is prohibited. Only the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea, which is located behind a narrow sand spit from the lake, is suitable for swimming.

Tourist centers, from which the visit to the Circeo Park begins, are located in several towns along the shore. In Sabaudia, the tourist center is located at Via Carlo Alberto, 107. Entrance to the park is free. The park has marked walking and cycling routes.

Beaches of Sabaudia

Of course, vacationers love Sabaudia as a resort, first of all, for its endless sandy dune beaches. The swimming season in Sabaudia lasts up to six months and ends in late September – mid-October, thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate and warm waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

The beaches of Sabaudia are a long sand spit, stretching for several kilometers between the salt lake Paola and the sea shore. This spit is actually sand dunes of fine whitish and golden sand. The entrance to the water is gentle and gradual. Sabaudia beaches are some of the cleanest on the shore and regularly receive the Blue Flag award.

According to my research, the most popular beaches in Sabaudia includes Duna 31.5 which has all the necessary infrastructure and is suitable for families with children. Another one is Lido Azzurro Sabaudia with developed infrastructure, but sometimes there are waves due to the open space. One more popular place for relaxing is La Bufalara Beach. It is the most secluded beach of all, located closest to the Circeo Park. Basically, the beaches in Sabaudia are paid. As I found out, the entrance fee is usually around 15-20 euros per day. If you wish, you can find free areas for rest, but they are not equipped.

In conclusion

In terms of entertainment, Sabaudia offers various water sports – water skiing, surfing, parasailing, and you can also play beach volleyball, for which there are special areas on the beaches. There are playgrounds for children on the beaches too.

In general, I can say that a holiday in Sabaudia is more suitable for those travelers who like to contemplate nature rather than hang out at night discos. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes at the resort, however, night clubs and parties until the morning are not accepted here, which is why young people may find the resort boring. On the other hand, the place is perfect for single travelers, couples, and also for those traveling in pairs.

On an excursion from Sabaudia, you can go to the neighboring towns of Terracina and Gaeta. There are different ways of how to get to Sabaudia as well as how to get from Sabaudia to other resorts, to my mind, but a car remains one of the best options for exploring the surrounding area.
