Ravello is considered to be one of the most picturesque towns of the Amalfi Coast, and all thanks to the mountain terraces, which offer stunning views of the sea and surrounding area. Local architectural attractions are also interesting for tourists, for example, ancient villas, which are the mix of Italian, Byzantine and Arabic motifs. Sometimes Ravello is even called the “town of lovers”, and all because the Italians love to spend their honeymoon here. What to see in Ravello
Ravello is located in the mountains, so its main attractions are rocky terraces, which offer wonderful views of the coast. It is worth keeping in mind that the sea is quite far from Ravello, so if your goal is a beach holiday, it is better to stay at the Marmorata resort, which is located near Ravello, but closer to the coast. Ravello and Marmorata are connected by a serpentine road.
Historical Attractions
Ravello has preserved many historical sites that are definitely worth visiting while on holiday at the resort. For example, the famous villas Rufolo and Cimbrone are open for observing. Villa Rufolo is a medieval building from the 13th century with an adjoining Moorish gallery and the Torre Maggiore tower. The villa is surrounded by magnificent blossoming gardens.
- The villa is open daily from 9 am to 7 pm;
- Entrance to its territory costs 8 euros.
No less popular to visit is Villa Cimbrone, although it was built much later – in the 19th century. Here you can also find magnificent gardens. In addition, at the end of the garden you will see a terrace with panoramic views of the coast. This terrace is considered to be, perhaps, the best viewpoint in Ravello.
- The villa is open for viewing from 9 am to 7 pm;
- Entrance fee is 10 euros.
In my opinion, it is definitely worth walking along the old streets of Ravello, which now and then “emerge” onto the main square of the town, where the graceful Cathedral rises. The Cathedral is very old; it was built in the early 11th century. Admission is free.

Towns to go from Ravello
Ravello is located near other Amalfi resort towns, so if you have time, you can visit them all at a leisurely pace. For example, in the town of Amalfi there are such interesting sights as the Cathedral of St. Andrew, the Emerald Grotto, and one of the best beaches on the coast. In Positano there are squares, temples, terraced views and small islands of Li Galli. In Maiori, several temples and monastery have been preserved, as well as the mysterious castle of St. Nicholas.
I would recommend visiting all of them. It is quite easy to travel around if you choose a car as a way of how to get to Ravello. Travelling by public transport is also possible as there are bus routes connecting towns along the Amalfi Coast.

Take a note! When going on a trip to Italy, do not forget to take out travel insurance, which is useful for receiving a tourist visa and for solving emerging medical problems when travelling in another country. You can purchase insurance via online services, for example, via EKTA and others. You can choose from different modes, including quiet, active or extreme rest.
