When to travel to Langenfeld
Langenfeld is a small ski village with a ski area of 50 km, a developed resort infrastructure and one of the largest thermal complexes in the Austrian Tyrol called Aqua Dome. Langenfeld attracts with its cozy vibes and stunning natural scenery, as it is located in the very “heart” of the Otztal Alps. Next door is the noisy and popular resort of Solden, so if you wish, you can try the more extensive slopes of the neighboring resort.
After some research, I decided to put together information I have previously found out and create a complete guide on how to organize a holiday in Langenfeld. I figured out how to get to the town, where to stay & what to do there. I really hope this detailed information will help you plan your trip to Langenfeld.
Langenfeld is considered to be a popular place to stay at any time of the year due to the Aqua Dome thermal complex. The skiing period lasts from December until April. The hiking period lasts from May to October incl. The thermal complex operates all year round.
How to get to Langenfeld
Where do you fly into to get to Langenfeld? Most often, tourists get to Langenfeld from Innsbruck, Salzburg or Munich; all three cities have airports to fly into. Check the current flight timetable from your city at Aviasales booking service. I usually use Aviasales when planning my trips, because it can compare a great variety of available flight options. Then travellers can get to Langenfeld by public transport, by taxi or by rented car.
How to get to Langenfeld from Innsbruck
By public transport: The most convenient way to get to Langenfeld is from Innsbruck, which is only 75 km away and has an airport to fly into. To get to the resort by public transport, you have to use the train + bus combination. First you need to get from Innsbruck to the town of Otztal by train. The travel time takes about 30 minutes. Trains run along the route several times an hour during the day. You can check the schedule and purchase tickets online at the Raileurope booking service. To my mind, Raileurope has a convenient search with a lot of filters to narrow down the results and find the best suitable options in terms of duration of a trip, departure and arrival points, number of changes, etc. Next, at the train station in Otztal you need to take a bus directly to Langenfeld. You should focus on buses No. NL, 4194, 8352.
By taxi: If you travel with sports equipment, a lot of luggage, or with a family or group of friends, then it will be more convenient to take a taxi car directly to the resort. If you order a transfer service in advance, the driver will already be waiting for you at the airport by the time of arrival. The travel time from the Innsbruck Airport to Langenfeld by taxi is about 1 hour. You can book a transfer service via various online services such as Kiwitaxi and other similar ones. I read the reviews of the service and most of them are positive.
By rented car: Tourists can also use such an option as renting a car. There are 9+ more rental offices of various suppliers open at the Innsbruck Airport. In addition, there are rental offices in the city center too. You can book a car in advance via specialized international services such as Discover Cars, Economybookings and other similar ones. The distance between Innsbruck and Langenfeld is about 75 km. They are connected with highways No. A12 and B186 (see on the map). The approximate travel time is 1 hour. As I see it, travelling by car is one of the most convenient ways to reach Langenfeld from Innsbruck.

The advantage of Munich is that a much larger number of flights from all over the world arrive here than to Innsbruck or Salzburg, which is why tourists often choose Munich as their arrival airport.

What to do in Langenfeld
Langenfeld is a smaller ski resort than neighboring Solden, but you can combine skiing in both areas. I found out detailed information for visiting the resort:
- The total length of trails in Langenfeld is 50 km;
- The altitude difference is from 1170 m to 1600 m;
- There are blue, red and black trails;
- About 10 lifts operate at the resort;
- Cross-country skiing trails are also available. It is about 40 km;
- Toboggan runs are also provided;
- The ski slopes have opportunities for night skiing;
- There are 2 snow parks.
If this does not seem enough, the larger resort of Solden is located within a radius of 10 km. Based on my research, Solden offers the following skiing opportunities:
- The total length of the slopes at the resort is more than 145 km;
- The altitude difference is more than 2000 meters;
- The number of lifts is 34+ more;
- There is a half-pipe and 2 fun parks for snowboarders, as well as cross-country skiing and toboggan runs;
- In total, there are 5 ski and snowboard schools in Solden, and there is also a freeride center.
Aqua Dome in Langenfeld
Aquadom is one of the popular recreation centers and it is located in Langenfeld. There are outdoor and indoor pools with a waterfall and a water slide, 7 different saunas, an ice pool, a diving pool, relaxation areas, a spa area, where various types of massage are offered, including traditional local “stamp” massage and Otztal stone massage. The outdoor pools are open all-year-round and have a temperature of +36 degrees; they differ in types and can be massage, salt and sulfur ones. I did some research to collect practical information for visiting and here it is:
- The thermal complex “Aquadom” is open daily from 09 am to 11 pm; the sauna area is open from 10 am until 10 pm;
- The cost of a full day ticket starts from 46 euros for an adult and 29 euros for a child;
- You can also purchase a 3-hour ticket. In this case, the cost starts from 35 euros for adults and 18 euros for children.
Other activities such as ice skating, tobogganing, cross-country skiing, paragliding, rock climbing and mountaineering are also available at the Langenfeld resort. You can always relax and have a pleasant evening in one of the resort restaurants, which offer regional cuisine.
In general, I can say that Langenfeld is a resort with a highly developed infrastructure, although not an extensive ski area. Here you can combine light skiing and relaxation in one of the most popular thermal complexes in Tyrol. For more extreme sports, you can go to neighboring Solden, the distance to which is only 10 km.
Take a note! When going on a trip to Austria, do not forget to take out travel insurance, which is useful for receiving a tourist visa and for solving emerging medical problems when travelling in another country. You can purchase insurance via online services, for example, via EKTA and others. You can choose from different modes, including quiet, active or extreme rest.
