I did some research and I can say that tourists can find a lot of different accommodation options to stay here. Seefeld has a developed resort infrastructure, which means that you can find accommodation here for almost any request. You can stay in Seefeld in various hotels or apartments, including detached holiday homes and chalets.
Seefeld has 3-, 4- and 5-star hotels. Most of them offer breakfast included in the price; some offer half board (breakfast + dinner). Many Seefeld hotels have a number of additional options, such as a sauna, a swimming pool, a fitness room, a spa area, restaurants, etc. Also, if you travel by car, hotels usually have a private parking area (pre-booking required in some cases).
Depending on the class of the hotel, guests may also be offered a kids club or a children’s play area (in hotels designed for families), bicycle rental, an adult games room, storage area for ski equipment; 5-star hotels also host evening entertainment programs.
Accommodation in apartments involves two possible options: a room in an apart-hotel or renting a detached holiday home. The main difference between rooms in apart-hotels and simple hotel rooms is that there is a kitchen equipped with everything you need. If this is a studio, then the kitchen area will be small and equipped with only the most necessary; if it is a full-fledged apartment consisting of several rooms, then the kitchen, in addition to the basic equipment, will also have a dining area. Apartment houses, as a rule, have several floors and are suitable for large groups of people.
When going on vacation to Seefeld for the first time, you need to keep in mind that during the “high” season (the period from December to March incl.), many attractive accommodation options can be already booked. In this regard, it is recommended to book hotels or apartments in advance (ideally, at least, several months before you go). This option is more suitable for those who rent a car and have the opportunity, while living in a neighboring town, to go on vacation to Seefeld. The main purpose of the Seefeld resort is different sport activities, including winter sports, in particular, skiing. In the summer, Seefeld is also well-known resort, since many types of leisure activities remain available in the summer, for example, playing golf, relaxing on the lakes, tennis courts, swimming pools, saunas; spa complexes are open; in addition, shopping areas, cafes, restaurants, discos, bars are open all year round.
If you consider Seefeld primarily as a ski resort, then you should keep in mind that skiing here is more suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers than for pros. For beginners, various ski schools are organized here, consisting of more than 150 instructors. Seefeld is also suitable for cross-country skiing. The resort is located in the foothills of the Alps and is surrounded with the Gschwandtkopf mountain and the Rosshutte mountain peaks. Gschwandtkopf mountain has a height of 1500 meters and is suitable for skiing for beginners.
The Rosshütte mountain peaks have different heights and several levels of difficulty for skiing. In addition, there are areas for a half-pipe, as well as a fun park. You can find trails of higher difficulty in the neighboring German resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is located 40 km from Seefeld. You can get there by train or by car along highway No. B2. I examined some information and found out the following helpful details for visiting the ski resort:
- The maximum lift height on the Seefeld slopes is 2101 m;
- the total number of slopes is 19;
- the total number of lifts is 25;
- the longest slope is 5 km long,
- there is equipment for night skiing.
Ski pass prices are from 57 EUR/day for an adult, 40.5 EUR/day for a child, 295 EUR/6 days for an adult, 177 EUR/6 days for a child. It is not necessary to bring skiing equipment with you, there is equipment rentals in Seefeld, as well as many shops offering appropriate sportswear, shoes and accessories.
In addition to winter sports, Seefeld also offers other different activities. So, for example, you can visit spas and thermal baths, which are located in the town. Some of these complexes are located right next to the hotels (it is not necessary to stay in a hotel to visit). In particular, such complexes can be found at the Das Hotel Eden, Hotel of Klosterbräu, Hotel of Krumers Post, etc. Each of the hotels has its own set of services.
But one of the most popular thermal complexes in Seefeld is the Alpenpark, located on 750 square meters and offering an extensive variety of services and entertainment. There are swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), saunas, infrared cabins, hydromassage, a gym, pools for children and children’s slides, spa areas, massage, etc. You can also swim in the pool at the former Olympic complex named “Olympia Sport und Kongresszentrum Seefeld”. I personally visited some thermal spas in Europe and I can definitely recommend such a nice activity to try.
In the summertime in Seefeld you can go in for tennis, golf (special golf courses are equipped, there is also a golf club), horseback riding, mountain biking, while in the winter time such activities as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, skiing are available for vacationers. ice skating, Tyrolean curling, sleigh rides, paragliding are also interesting activities to try.
You can have a good time in various restaurants, cafes and bars here. The menu is usually based on local Tyrolean cuisine, which means that in Seefeld you can try such dishes as schnitzel, potato salad, dumplings, strudel, pancakes, spiced wine with honey, etc.
If you think that Seefeld is only suitable for a family holiday, then it is only partly true. Nightlife is in full swing here too. In addition to traditional bars and discos, Seefeld can even offer such exotic entertainment as a casino, by the way, one of the most famous in Austria. Since Seefeld is a famous and popular resort, entertainment can be found here for every taste.
In general, I can say that Seefeld is a multifunctional resort, suitable for both a relaxing family holiday and an active pastime. Seefeld has a highly developed touristic infrastructure, not only in terms of skiing and other winter sports, but also in terms of additional entertainment such as thermal and spa complexes, golf clubs, tennis courts, bowling and fitness centers and much more. You can stay in Seefeld both in hotels of various categories and apartments. In terms of sightseeing, neighboring Innsbruck or Bavarian resorts, which are located within a radius of 40-50 km from Seefeld, can be great ideas for one-day trips.
Take a note! When going on a trip to Austria, do not forget to take out a travel insurance, which is useful for receiving a tourist visa and for solving emerged medical problems when travelling in another country. You can purchase an insurance via online services, for example, via EKTA and others. You can choose from different modes, including quiet, active or extreme rest.
